Dr Dunn completed his undergraduate education at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he retains an adjunct appointment as a professor of biomedical engineering. He received his medical training at Albany Medical College, followed by general surgical training at University of Massachusetts Medical School and plastic surgery training at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia.
Dr Dunn has focused his research on microsurgical techniques in wound management. He is past president of the New England Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and currently serves as chief of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at UMass Memorial Health Care and professor of surgery and cell biology at University of Massachusetts Medical School.
Lisa Clark Pickett, MD, FACSDr Pickett received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed her residency in critical care and in general surgery at Duke University Medical Center.
She has clinical interests in laparoscopic hernia repair, routine and complex ventral and inguinal hernias, hernias in women, abdominal wall reconstruction, critical care, and enteral and parenteral nutrition. Her research interests include a review of the hernias performed in the past 7 years at Duke Hernia Center to create a resource for retrospective and prospective studies. She has published papers in peer-reviewed medical journals on the use of bioprostheses in hernia repair.
David E. Rivadeneira, MD, FACS, FASCRSDr Rivadeneira received his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC. His residency in surgery was completed both at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, Department of Surgery, where he later served as chief resident. Following his residency, he completed a fellowship at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center, Department of Colon and Rectal Surgery, in Burlington, Massachusetts. His most recent academic appointment was as associate professor of surgery at the Stony Brook University Medical Center.
Recognized for his advanced skills in minimally invasive surgery, Dr Rivadeneira has a major interest in laparoscopic and other minimally invasive procedures for the treatment of colon and rectal diseases, including cancer. He is a national leader in laparoscopic colon surgery and has extensive experience teaching laparoscopic colon surgery to surgeons throughout the United States and abroad.
